  Preprimary Independence Day 23

Independence Day was the first large group celebration, in this academic year, for our children of pre-primary block. Love for ‘India’ was very much in the air as they sang their favourite ‘India वाले’ songs with gusto. There was excitement all around when the flag was hoisted and there was a shower of flowers. For some that remained the most memorable part of the celebration. For some others, it was the colours and smells of the floral rangoli that captivated them. Introducing the idea of a country and a place called India in the simplest way which could be relatable to these young children, helped build an essence for Independence day. Each child, from Playgroup right up to Kindergarten showed a visual awareness of the flag. They took joy in making their own ‘India flag’ and happily waved it while singing songs during the celebration. Listening to stories related to ‘India’s special things’ like tiger, lotus, mango, peacock set the tone for them strengthening a connect with their beloved country. They made simple stories about how these things coexisted happily in its jungles. “Peacock और tiger खेल रहे थे jungle में। जब वो tired होगये तो उन्होंने tree पे से mango खाया।” The children of Ardhi group even explored making a lotus together. Their presentation on the day of celebration was appreciated by their peers and Didis. Each child went back happy and enthusiastic to light a diya for India’s special day the next day.
