Assessments

At Shikshantar, a child grows and learns each day. She engages in various school experiences which are an integral part of her life. We believe that there are constructive ways to observe, record and communicate a child’s progress. This communication should go beyond the mere judgement of her latest or manifest abilities, interests or skills. The purpose of sharing these observations is to help maintain a sense of continuity between the facilitative environments provided at schooland at home.

The assessment practices in the pre-primary block involve sharing of a progress review with the child’s parents twice a year. This progress card shares insights about significant areas that we think are necessary to enable happy wholesome growth and lifelong development. Emphasis is placed on the integrated development of the physical, cognitive, social, emotional and inner self of every child. Evaluation at Shikshantar is also a source of inspiration and learning, and not a time for judgement and fear.
