Annual Art Portfolio Exposition 2022-23

The 10th Annual Art Portfolio Exposition 2022-23, was held in the month of January. Like every previous year, it raised the bar a notch higher. Each piece of art on display reflected hard work and a striving for excellence. Around 70 students from grades IX to XII participated in the exposition, covering a wide range of art forms and mediums. The visitors who got to speak to the participating students were treated to enthusiastic explanations of the journey behind each artwork, with pride and a sense of achievement. There were Still Life Studies, which are basically drawings or paintings from observation of natural and man-made objects, including simple and complicated forms, different materials and textures. The mediums range from graphite pencils, to charcoal and colour pencils watercolours, poster colours, acrylics and mixed media. One could clearly observe the growth of skills, observation and command over the medium, from the work of Class IX to Class XII, with a striking maturity and artistic quality in the latter. Applied Art, on the other hand, showcases children’s skill in designing greeting/invitation cards, book covers, posters, repeat patterns and logos. Students of XI & XII take their learning to another level of challenge, and design packaging and labels, wedding invites and abstract compositions with studied objects and typography.
Apart from these, an amazing variety of Project Work was on display. From hand crafts like tie-and-dye, crochet, weaving and macrame, to many new mediums and materials like sand-casting relief work, resin jewellery, paper-cut layered and illuminated art, lino-cut printed textile design, and retro aeroplane models using bottles and cardboard. A number of stunning and thought-provoking paper collages were there too. Another first in this year’s exposition was a beautifully illustrated, hand-painted graphic novel created by a student for her ISC project, with her own story. To sum it up, the exposition was an absolute treat to the eyes for students, parents and visitors alike, showcasing amazing creative thought and perseverance behind each unique piece of art.
