Water Theme - Class III

Water is something children experience every day. Yet, over three weeks, the Class III children explored it in a deeper and more meaningful way through hands-on activities and thoughtful discussions.

The children took the theme ahead through their understanding of water being shapeless, colourless and odourless with simple experiments, further exploring the sources and uses of water. During another group experience, they delved into the ideas of ‘soluble and insoluble’ or ‘sink and float’ by observing the results of trying different substances and objects.

Their understanding of the water cycle came alive through the paper models they created. The children explained evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection with clarity, supported by their illustrations.

This journey also opened conversations about the growing water crisis, encouraging children to reflect on simple and practical ways to conserve water in daily life.

The theme of ‘Water’ came to a fulfilling close with a guided ocean-diving visualisation. The children imagined themselves as ocean explorers, gently travelling through the three layers of the sea. As they lay down quietly and ‘dived’ deep within, each child discovered a calm and comfortable space inside themselves.

Through poems, stories, experiments and reflective experiences, the theme of Water not only built knowledge but also developed awareness, curiosity and a deeper connection with the world around them.
