Sports Day - Pre Primary 2026
Building on the vibrant foundation of Oorja at Shikshantar, our Sports Day is always a celebration of the resilience and physical journey of our children through the year. Whether exploring the spaces in Vanar Vatika in the peak of summer or adapting to indoor play during high AQI days, the children’s spirit remains unchanged.
The little explorers of Sprouting Seeds were eager to share their Oorja experiences with their family and friends. Children displayed growing eye-hand coordination crawling under nets, walking on brick rows and scaling ladders. The Nursery children explored the complex obstacle course, navigating hoops, zigzag movement and hurdles with newfound ease and speed, having developed a more refined sense of balance and agility. The once formidable jungle gym tunnel is now a site of triumph where we often get to hear, "मैं खदु कर लुंगी, don’t help me Didi!"
In a shift towards skill-based activities, Kindergarten children challenged their own set milestones with the secret thought- ‘You have to believe in yourself’, surprising facilitators and parents alike with confident dribbling, simple catches and gymnastics. As they aimed at the basket and bounced the ball, they shared, "दीदी, देखो मैंने two bundle times dribble कर लिया!" Similarly, gymnastics enhanced their vocabulary as they mastered the postures - "table", "aeroplane", and "double pencil roll", displaying remarkable flexibility and core strength.
Beyond the ball games and gymnastics, the true take away was the team spirit visible during ‘Fun games’ in Nandanam. Whether it was a game of ‘Change the House’ or a relay race displaying alertness, agility and stamina, the air was filled with heartening cheers, "Come on, it's easy, आप कर लोगे!", transitioning from individual play to becoming true teammates.
Bringing the experience full circle, parents joined in the activities of the day, experiencing the same joys of the playground as the little ones. They took part in games like ‘Pick Up the Cone!’ challenging their comprehension and speed, following instructions given by the sports facilitators. Reinforcing their sense of unity, they played team games like ‘Tunnel Ball’ in Nandanam.
As the day’s activities drew to a close, the children were presented with special mementoes that mirrored the growth and development that they themselves are experiencing. The children received jade and coriander plants to take home and nurture, contributing to their sense of responsibility.
The true essence of our sports experience is not just about the physical milestones, it is about resilience. Our children display consistency while exploring the activities with confidence in the course of their natural growth strengthened by the support of their friends, group didis and bhaiyas.
