The children of Vanar years celebrated their ‘Sports Day’ across the days 11th-13th December ‘23. There was excitement and enthusiasm to share their progress in the area of physical development, with their family members. The school’s Oorja curriculum, with its emphasis on age-appropriate skill development and physical exercises, leads to children engaging in all games with interest and self-motivation. Having decided along with their didis on the skills that each group would like to share, the children participated with complete involvement. While attempting a relay game, such as ‘Hurdle’, ‘Run and exchange the skittle’ or ‘Obstacle’, they eagerly waited for their turn, happily completed the course and cheered their peers excitedly. Fun games like ‘Birds and eggs’, ‘Cups and domes’ etc were played with joy and parents applauded cheerfully when they saw their children play with such abandon.
The sports team had planned games for the family members too and it was heartwarming to see them participate wholeheartedly and exhibit team spirit while playing. Children were overjoyed to receive the token gift of a ‘jade plant’. They promised to nurture it with love and care.
A morning out in the sun, happy enthusiastic children willingly engaging in sports, a non- competitive and supportive environment, it was a ‘Sports Day’ like no other. .
