Shikshantar Birthday Celebration
Shikshantar turns 21 and the Celebrations have begun. The children were all brimming with joy and excitement, ready to celebrate Shikshantar School and its birthday. A collective celebration was facilitated by Sudha Didi and Subarna Didi with their creative movements. At Shikshantar we always create songs with children. The celebration began with lighting the Diya followed by didis doing creative movements around ‘Ek din Socha… Yeh rang birange phool kahan rehte hain…’ and children sang happily along, swaying with didis creating their own creative movements.Children love to ask questions! Today, in a game on picking a question given by children to Minoti didi, she picked a few questions from the basket as a blind folded player. The questions were-’ Why did you decide to have open classrooms, so many trees, fish pond and a slide?’, ‘How do you feel when you come to Shikshantar?’ and many more. Didi shared her thoughts on her visit to Shantiniketan and a school in Benares and saw trees which were 100 years old and were a home to so many creatures, and that is where her thoughts to have a school which would have lots of trees, birds, butterflies and fish began. She also shared that she feels Joyful with a sense of Peace and Quietness and looks forward to coming and being with the children and everything else that makes and shapes Shikshantar.
