Shikshantar 24th Birthday Celebration
‘To find magic around you, You must carry magic inside you.’
-Robert Moss
To celebrate Shikshantar’s 24th birthday, the children of Class I enthusiastically explored the theme ‘छू मन्तर शिक्षांतर’. Through creative expressions, they expressed finding magic in Shikshantar every day, sharing “दीदी ‘touch me not’ को touch करते हैं तो वो close हो जाता है. थोड़ी देर बाद open हो जाता है। ये भी तो magic है।” and “I feel free when I am playing on Jupiter in the Solar Plaza.”
Meaningful experiences of nature walks, stories and songs further enhanced their connection through close observations. The children joyfully created models and mapped their paths to different spaces around them in the school, displaying their spatial understanding.
The children of Class II, in a similar experience, explored the fish pond, backlawns, butterfly garden, solar plaza and other spaces, observed them closely and recalled the feelings they evoked. One of the most enjoyable experiences was creating riddles around these spaces and playing a guessing game with others to identify the space described in the riddle.
The children’s discussions and thoughts took them through the journey of Shikshantar. Pausing to wonder about their hopes, dreams and little wishes for Shikshantar, the children expressed what Shikshantar means to them and what they hope its journey ahead will hold.
They imagined what the different spaces of Shikshantar could whisper and talk to one another about — stories, secrets and गप शप. Through these experiences, Class II celebrated not just Shikshantar’s birthday, but also the connection, curiosity, memories, wishes and imagination that make these spaces special to them.
