Shikshantar 24th Birthday Celebration
The journey towards Shikshantar’s 24th birthday began with the Pre Primary children deepening their connection with plants, trees, and wildlife that are an integral part of the children’s lives in Shikshantar.
The children began their journey by listening to the story of Shikshantar. Through sensory observations, heartfelt conversations, stories, and songs, they developed natural connections with the school's vibrant spaces.
In Sprouting Seeds, the little ones spent peaceful moments near the turtle and fish pond listening to stories in the Hub area, singing songs under the shade of the Shikshantar tree and enjoying picnics surrounded by the flowers and trees in Nandanam. These immersive experiences nurtured a true sense of belonging. As one child beautifully shared, “मैं seed के पास बठै कर इसे story सनु ाऊँगा।”
As the Nursery children spent time in the spaces around them, they observed and shared their wishes for Shikshantar ‘मेरा शिक्षांतर...’ creating recycled paper puppets of the turtle, fish and peacocks, the children also expressed their bond, sharing “I like meeting the turtle everyday and I will take care of its pond.”
A story led to a question, an exploration, and ultimately, a deep connection. Speaking to the people who make their time at Shikshantar special, the children learned of Shikshantar’s origin and grew increasingly curious, prompting thoughtful questions like, “Shikshantar को बनने में कितने days लगे थे ?” and “ये जगह पहले कैसी थी ?”
The KG children observed the people, the sounds, and the quiet corners in Shikshantar that have shaped their relationships. Embracing mindfulness and sustainability, they expressed their love through free Creative Expression of ‘एक शिक्षांतर प्यारा’ using recycled material. Depicting the spaces and creatures they love, the little ones brought to life the vision of ‘Shikshantar through our eyes...’
These experiences culminated on Shikshantar’s birthday, celebrating the school as a space they connect with, care for and grow with. Parents and children together enjoyed the music, art and story corners, ending the day with homemade snacks.
