“When I read, I feel the moon, star, cloud and earth have come down…”
A child from Class IV
Children enjoy exploring books of different genres and reading stories by various authors during the summer break. In continuity, when children re-joined school after their vacation, an activity titled ‘Read and Grow’ was facilitated by Library didi. Discussions were initiated on the books they read, National Reading Day, P.N. Panicker – the person who began the ‘Library and Literacy Movement’ in Kerala etc. Together they reflected on ‘Why do we read stories?’, ‘What is the importance of stories in our life?’ and ‘Why do we enjoy reading stories?’. As an Extension Experience children expressed their connection with reading in multiple ways. Few shared “Book is a portal to another world!”, “Reading helps me to talk to someone.”, “I love reading, it takes me to the world of joy.”, while few others illustrated and some of them wrote about it
