Mile Sur Mera Tumhara - Class II Theme
As part of the theme 'मिलेसरु मेरा तम्हारा ु ', children of Class II joyfully celebrated the cultural
richness and diversity of India. Through this theme, they explored different art forms,
languages, dialects, clothes, food, music and dance forms of various states of India to
understand and deeply appreciate the essence of unity in diversity while reflecting on their
sense of independence and responsibility.
To facilitate the experience, didis and bhaiyas from different states interacted with the children
to share their connect with their native places. Children then researched on the native places of
their parents to prepare their own booklets on India. In an interesting activity, the children
observed their body outline and related them to the boundary of India. Leading questions from
the group facilitators encouraged them to develop a basic understanding of the concept of
boundaries -
"Where could India’s head be?"
"Do you see any similarities?"
One of the groups also decided to create their own imaginary state during choice time, coming
up with a flag, the currency and all the traditions that it would be associated with.
As part of the culmination, children shared traditional foods with each other and participated in
quiz time, celebrating the spirit of India.
