Circle Time and Open House for Classes V - VI
The Circle Time and Parent Open House for Class V was conducted in a warm, inclusive setting where parents of Class V gathered to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences on selected topics such as empathy, teamwork, and responsibility.
During the Open House, parents were invited to explore various subject-specific learning corners prepared by the students. These included cave paintings and clay sculptures in Social Science, parts of a flower in Science, German alphabets, and even mathematical concepts like angles expressed creatively through dance.
Each corner highlighted the integration of creativity and curriculum, giving parents a glimpse into the experiential learning approach of the school.
The Circle Time for Class VI parents opened with initiating a thread activity. Each group was represented by a different colour, and parents picked a thread associated with their child's group in Class V. As they introduced themselves, they tied the threads together, symbolizing our diverse backgrounds coming together. This activity emphasized a start to a new journey in Class VI, bringing unique skills and limitations from the previous experiences and an understanding that by accepting and learning from each other, we foster a positive environment.
Parents were also oriented on Unit Assessments and the importance of preparing students for senior classes, highlighting the support needed from parents to guide their children effectively. The orientation also emphasised the importance of organization, time management and regularity.
The session continued with parents sharing brief introductions about themselves and their interactions with their children, followed by a recitation of the poem ‘New Beginning’ by Hamsah.
The group facilitators in Classes V and VI reiterated some important norms outlined in the school diary such as communication channels, significance of celebrating birthdays and the importance of having lunch together in school along with the importance of enrichment classes.
Parents expressed admiration for the effort behind each experiential corner and appreciated the innovative and interdisciplinary ways in which they experienced the subjects.
