Oorja within and around us - Pre Primary

Celebrating Shikshantar’s 23rd birthday this year, the children of Shikshantar are immersed in the theme of ‘Oorja Within and Around Us’. During the Circle Time, children in Pre Primary began sharing their understanding about Oorja/energy through discussions about ‘what is energy?’. The energy of spaces, experiences, food, colours and ourselves. “हम energy से भागते है , jump करते हैं..., और energy हमें tree पर चढ़ने देती है...”

The children are building deeper connections with different spaces of Shikshantar like the turtle pond, fish pond, Nandanam, Vanar Vatika and feeling the changes in energy while exploring different experiences there - doing art in Nandanam or tiffin time in the Hub. They listened to the story of Shikshantar with joy & wonder - “who made Shikshantar? How long did it take?”

They also connected sensitively to the creatures in the surroundings, peacocks, turtle, fish, etc., observing their energies and what we connect with. It culminated with each group creating these creatures through different art techniques.

Continuing the journey, children in Pre Primary reflected on their changing energies throughout the day like the energy at the beginning of the day, running and jumping outdoors and energy at the end of the day when they hug their pillows, “when I hug my pillow, it feels soft...”, “sleeping वाली energy...”

To be more in tune with their inner energies, they also reflected and explored free expressions through “The energy within me” and shared “library में story पढ़ती हूँ तो quiet वाली energy आती है...”

Along with introspection, the delightful creative journey also led to growing empathy and deepening the bond with all beings around them.
