2nd Parent Open House - Sprouting Seeds
The 2nd Parent Open House for Sprouting Seeds was a thoroughly enriching experience for the parents into how their children spend the days as they grow up in Shikshantar. The topic of the session was ‘The how, what and why of a child’s day in Raindrops, Dewdrops, Boond and Oss’.
Beginning their journey in the open spaces, the parents warmed up in Nandanam, explored the corners of Vanar Vatika, took on the brick walk and enjoyed playing on the ramp and slide. As they explored each corner of the children’s learning spaces, they experienced the same achievements and tackled the same challenges that the children encounter in moments spent outdoors.
In the circle time that followed, Didis shared with the parents how children were introduced to the letter friend Pp. Exploring the tactile and sensorial feel of the letter using tools like paint and play dough, they received first-hand knowledge of how children put the building blocks in place to understand the letter shapes and increase their familiarity with language. It was an attempt to immerse in the child’s perspective, experience the waves of creativity and the joy of teamwork as they swap different art materials with each other.
The session culminated with a heart-warming presentation about the children’s day in Sprouting Seeds and the learning outcomes of the process, helping parents join the dots between their children’s experiences and learning.
