Understanding Credit and Debit Cards
What had started as a far-fetched dream for the students when they were in Class XI, turned into a reality with the founding of the Finance Committee in Shikshantar.
Driven by a shared passion for finance, economics, and wealth management, the Finance Committee members of Class XII took the initiative to conduct their first financial workshop on 25th July 2025. The topic for the presentation was: The Working of Credit and Debit Cards. This undertaking was impactful not only for the Class X students they were teaching, but the Finance Committee members themselves. In a world where financial literacy remains alarmingly low among young individuals, especially in the school-going age group, initiatives like this are essential. With poise, purpose and perseverance, these students created a presentation that highlighted these two pillars of the modern financial world. In their workshop, they covered in detail- their functioning, merits and demerits, limitations, differences and some lesser known facts about these monetary facilitators.
This meticulous and collective initiative marked only the beginning of such events for the Finance Committee. This workshop was not merely a lesson on swiping plastic, rather the beginning of learning financial responsibility. By bridging the gap between theory and practice, students are empowered to make informed financial decisions and develop responsible money management habits from a young age.
