Rabindranath Jayanti Celebration
On 9th May 2025, Class VI children gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of a literary giant, a visionary, and a philosopher - Rabindranath Tagore. Born in 1861 in one of the foremost families of Bengal, he grew up to be a great nationalist, a gifted writer, a talented artist, a brilliant visionary, and a reformer of education. He was also Asia’s first Nobel Laureate. His contribution to India’s freedom movement is forever immortalized in Jana gana mana, a song he wrote to inspire the nation.
In the Rabindranath Jayanti celebration, children shared the message of Tagore, ‘’The butterfly counts not months, but moments, and has time enough.'' This resonates deeply with our approach at Shikshantar, where living in the present is prioritised, focusing on mindful moments rather than mere timeframes. By embracing responsibility and letting go of fear, we cultivate a deeper sense of purpose and awareness in our actions.
On the eve of celebration, Class VI children prepared a song 'Rabindranath Sangeet' in Bengali language and participated in vibrant creative movements. Further contributing to the eventful afternoon, the grandmother of one of the children sang poems and songs in Bangla, giving a folk touch to the celebration.
Overall, all groups from Classes V to VIII had an enriching and enjoyable experience.
