Oorja within and around us - Middle school

Celebrating Shikshantar’s 23rd birthday, the Middle School children took ahead the theme of ‘Oorja within and around me’ through building an understanding of Oorja and the significance of channelising their own energies to bring harmony.

To understand that Oorja is present everywhere in nature and within ourselves, the students of Class V reflected on the forms of energy - sun, wind, water, food, emotions and thoughts and ways to conserve and balance them. They also created a word web on experiences that bring positive energy out within each one of them.

The students connected to the story ‘The Lotus Bud’ and how the spirit of collaboration between the forces of nature that come together to sustain the lives of flowers, trees, animals and all living beings. The story led them to explore the positive energies of people in their lives that support them in overcoming obstacles.

Children worked in small groups to reflect on situations they have experienced in relation to emotions such as empathy, affection, calmness, anger or frustration and how these emotions affect energies in the world around them.

These experiences helped children develop an understanding of both inner and outer energy and how it impacts their mental and physical well-being, enabling them to nurture blissful energies around them.
