Hamara Manch - Classes IX & XI

Hamara Manch was a harmonious blend of creativity, collaboration and talent. The amphitheater came alive as students of Classes IX and XI presented a vibrant medley of performances reflecting a year of exploration and cherished learning. One could feel the pulse, the involvement and the excitement during the days of readiness and rehearsals.

The air was filled with original creations and covers by our talented school bands, who spent weeks refining their sound set to the tune of soulful classics like Backstreet Boys' ‘I Want It That Way’. ‘Free Bird’ chose the melodious ‘Feeling Good’ to represent free will and the excitement of starting a new chapter in their lives. The Ducklings stirred nostalgia with End of Beginning by DJO, a tribute to their childhood and their bond with the school.

A diverse range of roleplays represented a reflection of our society today through exploration of profound themes. The light-hearted tale Kaun Banega Mythbuster focused on busting the superstitions prevalent in our societies, giving a scientific explanation behind each myth. Another play, ‘Rangmanch aur hamare kirdar’, attempted to showcase the importance of family, relationships, understanding each other and the ideal way to lead lives. ‘Back to the Coffee’ was a play inspired by Before the Coffee Gets Cold, where students crafted an original take on time travel, following three friends in a quaint cafe who revisit their pasts with varying and sometimes tragic consequences.

The dance performances showed tremendous skill, moving from graceful classical forms to high-energy freestyle. Saraswati Vandana and Aagaza displayed a breathtaking blend of traditional Kathak fused with Spanish influences and contemporary tracks. A dance set to The Kerala Boat Song mirrored the rhythmic chants of Kerala’s famous snake-boat races through a stunning fusion of Bharatnatyam and Freestyle. FJ15’s high-octane tribute to the timeless classics of Michael Jackson followed, bringing the energy of the pop icon to the amphitheater.

The visual aesthetic of the evening was enhanced by a collaborative art installation. Senior students, supported by facilitators, created a breathtaking backdrop using natural branches and stems woven into colorful patterns with yarns and ropes. This sustainable art piece added a layer of warmth and brightness to the space. Even the snacks provided to the parents were lovingly prepared and served by the students, reflecting an additional facet of their involvement in the planning for the event.

The preparations for Hamara Manch were intense, with each performance coming as a result of intense preparations and much deliberation about the messages the students wanted to convey. It was a moving and exhilarating night where creativity knew no bounds, proving that when students take the lead, the result is truly spectacular.
