Janmashtami Celebrations 2026

On the occasion of Janmashtami, the little Kanha within each child came alive through singing, dancing and hands-on experiences. In their groups, the little ones in Pre Primary listened with rapt attention to the stories of Krishna’s playful adventures with his friends, cheerfully reenacting them using flutes and peacock feather headbands made in the groups using recycled paper. They found their love of animals was reflected in his stories and were inspired by his generous nature. With paper, cloth and cardboard, the children created their own Govind Puri, complete with little figures of Yashoda Maa and Kalia Naag along the Yamuna river.

The Primary children used clay to make models of Krishna, his friends and his flute. Listening to Krishna’s stories in Circle Time, they identified with many of his qualities in the experience ‘Knowing Myself and Krishna’ and understood his quality of self-reflection. Searching for the Krishna within them through introspection, the children looked at what strengths they carry and how they can nurture them further. Rocking the Krishna idol on his swing, they sang ‘नंद घर आनंद’ and ‘हे मुरली श्रीधर’. Swept up in the rhythm of the flute, they explored creative movements to songs that celebrated Krishna’s life and his relationship with nature - “एक कदम्ब का पेड़ अगर माँ होता यमुना”.“अच्युतम् केशवम् कृष्ण दामोदरम्”

Heading back to their groups, the children enjoyed the sweet ‘प्रसाद’ served to them and shared it with friends, fully embodying the spirit of their most beloved shepherd.
