Janmashtami Celebrations 2026

The Janmashtami celebrations of Middle School unfolded over several days as a journey into the life, values and teachings of Lord Krishna.

During their project ‘खुशियों की मटकी’, children explored different facets of Krishna's life. Through the heart-warming story of Krishna and Sudama from Amar Chitra Katha, they discovered that true friendship is built on love, trust and respect. With the story of Govardhan Parvat, they understood why respecting and protecting nature is essential, reflecting on questions - Does nature need our help today and what happens if we don't take care of it?

Through reflective discussions, children connected these stories to their own lives, sharing their own experiences of friendship and ways they can become a better friend and a protector of nature.

The reflections came alive during Project Time with the children pouring their creativity into decorating peacocks, ‘झूला’, paper ‘मटकी’ for a festive ‘तोरन’ with drawings and expressions around ‘one thing that brings them joy and one way they can spread happiness to others!’

They also explored various shlokas recited by Krishna, discussed their deeper meaning and built connections with their daily life like doing one's work sincerely and helping others.

On the day of Janmashtami, the celebration was filled with joyful expressions - graceful creative movements depicting Vrindavan, the peacock dance and the lifting of Govardhan Parvat, and the melodious music. Children also experienced the traditional butter churning process, just as यशोदा would for कान्हा, connecting deeply with his childhood लीला.

It was a celebration filled with devotion, creativity and togetherness that truly brought the spirit and joy of Krishna to life in Shikshantar.
