A Corner of Illumination Through Timeless Ideas: Celebrating Rabindranath Tagore
The celebration of Rabindranath Tagore was not merely a remembrance of the poet, but a joyful exploration of his timeless ideas, creativity, and vision for humanity. Through art, music, creative movements, poetry, and reflection, children of Middle School immersed themselves in the many shades of Tagore’s world.
All the students from Classes V to VIII explored the corners planned by the students of Class VI as a part of the ongoing Class VI project on Rabindranath Tagore.
The collective energy of linocut inspired paintings and soulful creative movements on the iconic Ekla Cholo Re transformed the Middle School space into a vibrant, multi-creative space. Each child who visited the corner chose a quote that resonated with them, illustrated it in their own unique way, and carried the bookmark home as a personal keepsake of the experience.
Inspired by Tagore’s poems ‘Paper Boats’ and ‘I Wish...’, children of Class VI wrote their wishes and dreams on hanging paper boat buntings as part of the celebration. The activity became a gentle reflection of hope, imagination, and the inner world of every child. Not only this, they also demystified the word “fear”, inspired by Thakur’s poem “where mind is without fear”.
Through the theme and some of Tagore’s readings like “Geetanjali” and “Boyhood Days”, children explored Rabindranath Tagore’s ideas of dreams, hope, courage, gratitude, and self-expression. The celebration brought them together helping them appreciate simple joys, cherish their dreams, sitting with them pondering upon their feelings and feeling grateful for the little blessings in their lives.
