 3rd Parent Open House 23-24 ( Pre-Primary )

The 3rd Parent Open House for Playgroup and Nursery groups was held on Saturday, 20th January ‘24.

Being the final Open House for the academic year 2023-2024, sharing of the curricular goals was on the agenda. Parents shared shifts that they could observe in their children at this time of the year. Reading the goals and understanding them with help from group didis, they were able to make linkages between their observations and the area of development mentioned in the goals.

The topic of discussion in the large group session for parents of Playgroup was ‘How children think, feel and express’. Through the role plays based on group situations by didis and a facilitation of the discussion by Minoti Didi, parents reflected on their responses to situations with their children. They went back noticing the gap between what the children were attempting to express through words and gestures versus what they were interpreting them as. They welcomed the suggested readings on ‘Conscious Parenting’ and ‘Unconditional Parenting’, also putting in a request to have more of such meaningful sessions.

The parents of Nursery groups reflected on the topic ‘Nature of Science in early years’. They began by sharing the meaning of Science for them and that for their children. When they went for a nature walk and sensorially explored their surroundings as well as the experiential corners, they developed an understanding that senses are the cornerstone with which scientific temperament is cultivated. Spontaneous questions, curious explorations, regular collections from Nature, independent thinking, autonomy indoors and outdoors were qualities visible to them in their children.
