1st Parent Open House - Classes I - IV
The 1st Parent Open House for Primary School opened with the group didi's lighting diyas to celebrate a new beginning and collecting energies for calmness and positivity in the day. This being the first meeting between the parents and the group didis, everyone introduced themselves through interactive experiences.
After a little storytelling and singing, the didis oriented the parents on the daily routine of the children and the school policies with regards to bus dispersal and drop off. The group facilitators reiterated some important norms outlined in the school diary such as the celebration of birthdays, mode and process of communication with the school .
The parents responded enthusiastically to advice from the didis on cultivating healthy habits of reading in the children’s time spent outside the school. The didis then divided the parents into groups to take part in some collaborative group activities like painting or creating artistic rangolis using leaves, flowers and branches. The parents then also decided on a Group Parent Representative for the Parent Teacher Association.
Opening the session to questions and feedback from the parents, there were suggestions on how the children’s academic journey could be better supplemented and further queries on how the parents can build children’s interest in subjects outside the classroom.
After a productive discussion, the session was concluded with mindful breathing and chanting.
