G2G: Compost Workshop by the Environment Committee

The Environment Committee held a compost making workshop for Class IX on as a part of their Garbage to Garden (G2G) initiative on 9 th May 2024.
The objective of the G2G initiative is to make students aware of the waste generated at their households and in school. The initiative started with Trash Talk 101, a presentation for Class IX, about the G2G workshop and introducing to them the Environment Committee. We also had a discussion about the waste generated in India andwaysthatwe can combat it asindividuals. From the discussion we arrived at the most efficient way for redirecting waste from landfills- composting! We went over what compost actually is, its benefits and the process of making it.
On the day of the workshop, two groups at a time, we made compost. It was a fun-filled and educational workshop. People fell, some had dirt all over them, and others threw waste paper confetti all around, but in the end, we had two huge pots and one bucket full of compost. We thought only a few students would actually work but everyone participated wholeheartedly.
This was one of the many workshops as part of the G2G initiative and we cannot wait to organise more such workshops.
